Ahoy, it's Cap'n Cat Sparrow's very first Pick O' the Week!

Cap'n Cat Sparrow is our eye-patch-adorned feline mascot, and he will be hosting a series of giveaways here on our blog. Every other Thursday, he'll point his paw at some treasure or another from the shop, and we will offer the booty up here on the blog.

Entering to win is simple: Just leave a comment on the post that announces the giveaway, answering whatever question Cap'n Cat decides to pose that week. All comments must be in by the Sunday morning following the post. Then we'll blindfold Cap'n Cat and have him pick out a name (or, you know, use a random number generator. Either one).

Our first treasure up for grabs is a copy of Applique Your Way by the lovely and talented Ms. Kayte Terry.

Kayte's book will lead you through a very cool collection of applique projects for home and apparel. Reading it is like getting to hang out and craft with Kayte, and believe us, that's a fun way to spend your time.

And since the prize this week is a book, Cap'n Cat's Query o' the Week is: What was your favorite summer read? We've spent the last few months following the bloody trail of the Lannisters and the Starks in the Game of Thrones books. Tell us what you've been enjoying in the comments below, and maybe you'll end up with a new title on your bookshelf!
